Rahmah cash aid for B40 starts tomorrow, says PM

PUTRAJAYA - Finance Ministry will give out cash aid for the poor or the B40 income group from Jan 17, instead of in March, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said the first phase now rebranded as Rahmah cash aid (STR) involved 8.7 million recipients at RM1.67 billion.

He said a total of 4 million household will receive RM300, 1.2 million senior citizens without a partner (RM100) and 3.5 million single recipients (RM100).

"STR recipients in rural areas including Sabah and Sarawak who have bank accounts or no bank accounts will also receive this payment on the same date," he said.

The prime minister further said those who do not have a bank account could cash out their money at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches on the same date.
