SHAH ALAM - Polygamy is a blessing and not everyone can experience its 'sweetness'

According to Datuk Nurulhidayah who is the daughter of Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi she was never jealous of her husband's first wife the late Datin Bahazanariah Baharudin.

"As we mutually agreed to the marriage, there was no suspicion or back-biting.

"Mutual understanding will not make one jealous of the other. Alhamdulillah, when taking pictures there is no jealousy whether she wants to hug our husband, our husband wants to hug her or I want to hug him.

"I feel like it is a blessing. Not everyone will experience this and it is indeed sweet,” she said while being a panelist for the Borak Bibir Merah programme entitled ‘Manisnya Hidup Bermadu..’ aired on every Sinarplus platform on Friday.

However, Bahazanariah passed away in November 2020 after fighting against stage four breast cancer. Nurulhidayah explained it was sad for her to see Bahazanariah or Kak Zana endured the pain she experienced.

"I took care of her while she was fighting cancer. We were together and slept in the same ward. My husband and I took care of her till her last moment,” she said.

Meanwhile, she told that she did not expect that she will marry a married man.

She explained that when her husband, Datuk Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff expressed his desire to marry her, he had asked her to meet his wife first.

After the meeting, Bahazanariah requested for her to become Saiful Nizam’s second wife.

"At that time, I view Kak Zana as a wife who is soft-spoken and perfectly covered. If she was the chaotic first wife type, I will not get married,” Nurulhidayah said with a smile recalling the event.

The programme was also joined by Family Psychology and Syarie Legal Consultant Suzana Ghazali and was moderated by Fiza Saad.
