Instead of opting for the typical Business-to-Consumer (B2C) approach, the marketing firm 2X, specialises in Business-to-Business (B2B).

"B2C marketing is geared towards the masses, to people who are not running businesses, whereas B2B marketing targets businesses where your buyers are companies.

"B2C buyers buy the product because of the packaging, etc but B2B buyers buy products for to save money and labour cost,” Siew explained.

Due to different target markets, the behaviour of the consumers of the two marketing approaches are different.

"B2C buyers are quite emotional; if they buy one perfume, they will likely want to buy another.

"Meanwhile, B2B buyers are factual. So, if you want to sell something to a B2B buyer, you must be very factual," she said.

And this, Siew added, made pitching to a B2B buyer harder than that of a B2C because one needed to convince consumers who are very knowledgeable.

"Therefore, those in the B2B industry must be more intellectual, analytical and be more specific in targeting the client,” Siew remarked.
