SHAH ALAM - Abuse cases involving children are the most tragic crimes suffered by our society.

Some of us might have heard or seen some kind of abuse related to children at least once. This is a worrying situation as it would affect our society and the country as a whole.

According to surveys, 10 per cent of children were sexually abused, while another 25 per cent were physically abused.

Recently, it was reported that a four-year-old boy had died, believed to have been abused by his own sister and two others, in Batu Pahat last Dec.

Another case of abuse was reported on Jan 14, where a young boy, aged between three and four years old, was found wandering by members of the public near the Cheras Utama apartment in Batu 9, Cheras.

Child abuse cases shouldn't go unnoticed. There is a pressing need to address this issue immediately and effectively.

In tomorrow's episode of Wacana English Edition, entitled 'Abused and Vulnerable: Are the Children Safe?', panellists will be discussing this issue in depth.

They will also deliberate on the factors, root causes, and steps that can be taken to resolve this issue.

The panellist are Unicef Child Protection Chief Saskia Blume, Yayasan Chow Kit Founder Datuk Dr Hartini Zainudin, Universiti Malaya Senior Law Lecturer Dr Farah Nini Dusuki and Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

.

The show will be broadcast live at 4pm on Friday, Jan 27, on all Sinar Daily and Sinar Harian digital platforms.
