KUALA LUMPUR - Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and fellow leaders have been told to prepare for their own impending court cases instead of worrying about the court affairs of Umno leaders.

Umno information chief Isham Jalil said the allegations of vote buying and abuse of government funds faced by Perikatan Nasional leaders were serious enough for them to begin worrying about their own future.

Responding to Ahmad Faizal's call for Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be relieved of his duties in order for his court trials not to be further delayed and interrupted, Isham said the former Youth adn Sports Minister should not try to interfere in the matter as it was the right of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to decide.

"Instead of occupying yourself with the court cases and trials of others that have been going on for four years due to political prosecution initiated by the leaders of your party, I suggest you and your friends in the party prepare to be part of the 'Court Cluster 2.0' due to the largest misappropriation of government funds in Malaysia's history and the corruption of voters," Isham addressed Ahmad Faizal in a statement issued today.

"When your party was in power, many of you escaped criminal prosecution, espcially when the members of parliament in Bersatu had defected."

Isham also advised Ahmad Faizal and PN leaders to not confuse the people by rebranding bribery as 'charity'.

"Do you think you and your friends can get away by diverting attention to other issues and calling bribery as charity? The people will remember this case. You need to focus on the critical issues surrounding you and your party," said Isham. - AWANI
