KUALA TERENGGANU - The financial resources of political parties in the government must also be investigated to ensure the probes conducted are comprehensive and not only targeted at opposition political parties.

Terengganu Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman Datuk Razali Idris said such measures should be in place to demonstrate that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is transparent in its investigation.

Bersatu has cooperated with MACC's investigation on the party's account, he added.

"We have cooperated with MACC and submitted necessary documents for the investigation, which was conducted two weeks ago.

"Bersatu is open and ready to give cooperation for further investigation. We only seek transparency in this investigation.

"We also want to suggest to MACC that it not only investigate the opposition parties' accounts but also those of other parties in the government, namely PKR, DAP, and Amanah, to find out their financial resources," he told Sinar Harian.

Earlier today, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that Bersatu's account was frozen to assist an investigation into suspected illegal proceeds.

He said the party's account was frozen over two weeks ago to assist in an investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act.
