Bersatu's frozen accounts could affect their campaigns

SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) admits its frozen accounts could affect their campaigns if the state election takes place soon.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said this was due to Bersatu being a small party without much funding.
"If we have no funding, we will have difficulties running in the elections. This will put pressure on our efforts in the campaigns.
"However, if we must go forward with this we will meet with the people individually to the best of our abilities if we have to," he said when met by Sinar, here, on Wednesday.
Faizal said several Bersatu accounts were frozen in the past three weeks and he had no knowledge what issue it was related to.
"We have given our best cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). We hope they will be able to investigate immediately because if the party's accounts are frozen there will be difficulties in paying our workers' salaries and such," he explained.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's former private secretary chief Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad
had published Bersatu's audited account statements for 2020 and 2021 on its official website.
"For those who accused Bersatu of receiving RM4 billion from the RM92.5 billion Economic Stimulus Package funds they can refer to the audited party account statements.
"The accounts were audited and tabled in the Bersatu Annual General Meeting. It was filed in the Registrar of Societies (RoS) and was a public document. It can't be manipulated," Marzuki said in a statement on Bersatu's website.
