SHAH ALAM - Customers must be vigilant in performing online banking transactions and ensure to keep their username, password and security codes to themselves and not reveal it to anyone.

Bank Rakyat senior vice-president Fraud and Corporate Integrity Mohd Azril Fadzli Azmi said scammers would not come for victims if they (victims) did not reveal their banking credentials.

"You must be vigilant when performing transactions and make sure that your Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC), One Time Password (OTP), usernames and passwords are only for you and for your own use.

"If you keep that in mind and always remember this, there shouldn't be any problem,” he said.

He said this during Sinar Daily’s Wacana English Edition programme entitled "Scammer Alert, Don’t Fall For It!” which was aired on all Sinar Daily and Sinar Harian’s digital platforms, last night.

Mohd Azril said with the improvement of technologies in this generation, people could not always depend on transfers using cash, even for the next five years.

The emergence of technology, he said would also ease the process for people in their banking transaction.

He said moreover, with online banking, customers could easily make online transfers and online purchases.

Nevertheless, he reminded the public to always be on the look out when performing such transactions.
