KUALA LUMPUR - The MySejahtera application's status as the national public health tool will be determined soon as the management procurement contract will expire on March 31.

Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the ministry has been in negotiations with a company called MySJSdn Bhd and the outcome of the negotiations will be presented to the Cabinet soon.

He also stated that any additional costs incurred in managing the application after the contract has expired will be decided later.

"The government intended to use MySejahtera as a public health management system tool, storing all health data at the users' fingertips.

"This will be presented to the Cabinet ministers soon to determine the government's vision for MySejahtera whether or not it will be a public health management tool or something else.

"The application involves cost, and the cost will be decided after the current contract ends," he told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Lukanisman was responding to Dr. Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH - Bandar Kuching) who had requested details on the negotiations between the Health Ministry and MySJSdn. Bhd. to buy over MySejahtera, as well as the ministry's plan to optimise MySejahtera's use.

All the modules under the application belong to the government, which includes the intellectual property rights, the source code for the modules that have been developed, as well as the data, the 'MySejahtera' brand and logo are also owned by the government, he added.

"The government has full rights over the use of the MySejahtera platform through the Perpetual License at no cost even if the contract is not extended or if the government decides to appoint another party to manage the MySejahtera application," he explained.

In answering an additional question on the guarantee that MySejahtera's data won't be leaked, he said some three million data had been uploaded by the 'Super Admin' account as part of security measures.

However, he could not comment further because it is still under investigation.

The Auditor General's Report (LKAN) 2021 Series 2 revealed that there were 1.12 million attempts to break into the MySejahtera application.

A total of three million MySejahtera application user records were reported to have been accessed suspiciously from the 'Super Admin' account.

Following that, the Communications and Digital Ministry has ordered Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) to investigate a report that revealed user information from the MySejahtera application was downloaded by irresponsible parties.
