Pensioner nabbed by MACC for submitting fake invoices

A government pensioner was arrested by Sabah MACC after he was believed to have submitted fake invoices in relation to food and beverages supply worth RM36,000.

KOTA KINABALU - A government pensioner was arrested by the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after he was believed to have submitted fake invoices in relation to food and beverages supply worth RM36,000.

The 61-year-old suspect was arrested at the MACC Keningau Branch office at about 10am today.

According to a source, the suspect was believed to have submitted two invoices with false details to a district office.

The invoice was made in relation to the supply of food and beverages to the staff at a Keningau Sports Complex in conjunction with the Saga IX Keningau Games between Dec 5 and 13, 2019, but the supply was not actually delivered.

Meanwhile, Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy said the case was investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

"The suspect is expected to be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court soon," he said.

Accordingly, he reminded all civil servants not to submit any false documents over claims related to government programmes as it was a serious offence.
