SEREMBAN - Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged candidates who have won in the Umno election to stand together with the party's leadership and respect all decisions made even if they have different opinions.

This includes respecting decisions made by the party's leadership even if there is a difference of opinion.

"Party members should also protect the party's confidential matters, especially the matters discussed in the party's meeting.

Every appointed Supreme Council (MT) member is sworn to secrecy. The vice presidents who will be elected should be together with the president and deputy president. "Let's not have a party within a party, a group within a group," Zahid said.

He said this at a ceremony to introduce candidates for the posts of permanent chairman, permanent deputy chairman, vice presidents and supreme council for the UMNO elections of 2023–2026 at the Negeri Sembilan level here today.

"Similarly to my friends in MT, I practice the policy of celebrating differences of opinion and respecting the decision even if outwardly they don't agree with me, but I prioritise the party rather than take the road of revenge," he said.

Meanwhile, he also asked all members who won the party election to cooperate and not conspire to topple the existing government.

"Do not conspire with the enemies within. I know there are plans to challenge the existing leadership. Choose to be with me and UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to strengthen the party.

"This competition (the Umno election) is like flesh and blood; everyone is competing to strengthen the party and me and Tok Mat accept whoever wins; those are the Umno leaders who will be with me and the party," he said.

Ahmad Zahid said he will work with whoever is chosen by the delegates because he wishes to strengthen Umno.

"I am not emotional and this comes from the bottom of my heart. For me, what is most important is party loyalty," he said, adding that there is no place for personal agendas in Umno.
