Rais wins Tangga Batu Umno chief post

MELAKA - Umno Supreme Council candidate Datuk Rais Yasin wins the Tangga Batu Umno division chief post after defeating its incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad in the Umno division representative meeting.

According to unofficial results, the Education, Technology and Telecommunications Exco obtained 282 votes in the two-cornered fight with Mohamad Ali who lost by only four votes with 278.

The 2023-2026 Umno election vote casting process for the central and division levels was held in the Lacrista Hotel at Jalan Hang Tuah, which witnessed the attendance of 596 representatives.

It was understood that there were seven spoilt votes and the vote tallying was done twice.

The official results are expected to be announced around 8pm today.
