Heavy traffic at Karak Highway for two hours due to overturned container truck

SHAH ALAM - An overturned container truck at kilometre (KM) 74.3 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway heading to Bentong caused two hours of heavy traffic for users today.

Pantai Timur Highway (LPT) in a Facebook post informed the public that the emergency lane and the slow lane of that section of the highway was blocked as a result of the accident.

It said the right lane at KM 74.3 (Karak-Bentong) was temporarily closed to provide room for the clean up of diesel spilled at the scene.

"Users are advised to use the designated detour route set.

"Please drive with caution and obey officers at the scene,” it said.

Netizens aired their views regarding the frequency of accidents involving heavy vehicles such as lorries in the comments section.

User Aniza Pilus hoped the authorities would consistently monitor those vehicles and not allow lorries to be on highways during the weekend.

"(To) those parties responsible, lorries should not be allowed on the weekends. There is always traffic each week.

"The tolls are paid for, I hope the parties responsible take action,” the user said.

Another user Farizul Hanid said accidents occur every week and it would be caused by speeding lorries.

"Every week there is an accident. Are these lorry drivers driving that fast? Last Week when I came back from Kuantan I saw a lorry on the right lane driving at (a speed of) 120 km per hour,” the user said.
