'Jom Ziarah Gereja': Police to call in Hannah Yeoh for statement

KUALA LUMPUR - Police will call upon Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to record her statement for investigations over an NGO who runs the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme under the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said Yeoh would be called in soon.

"We will record Chegubard's (Badrul Hisham Shaharin) statement today to aid investigations," he said during a press conference after the 216th Police Day commemoration at Sentul district police headquarters on Monday.

Beh said two police reports were lodge over the issue.

"We have recorded statements from three individuals consisting of the complainant and two NGOs," he said.

On Sunday, media reported an investigation paper was opened on the 'Jom ZIarah Gereja' programme.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim was reported stating the enforcement body has received complaints even though the programme was cancelled on Sunday.

Yeoh on March 14 while concluding the Budget 2023 debate for her ministry clarified Muslims were not involved in the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme.
