'Jom Ziarah Gereja': Yeoh gives her statement to police

KUALA LUMPUR - Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh presented herselg at the Sentul district police headquarters, here on Monday to have her statement recorded to aid investigations over an NGO which runs the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme under her ministry.

Yeoh, accompanied by her lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo, arrived at the Sentul police district headquarters at 5.30pm.

The Segambut MP said she gave her full cooperation to the investigation and hoped police would be able to complete the investigation.

"I attended after reading the news that police wanted to record my statement, I didn't want to waste time and immediately headed for the Sentul police district headquarters.

"I believe my statement was consistent with what I have answered in Parliament last week regarding the programme, I have also answered Chegubard's (Badrul Hisham Shaharin) statement," she said in a press conference, here, on Monday.

On Sunday, media reported an investigation paper was opened on the 'Jom ZIarah Gereja' programme.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim was reported stating the police had received complaints even though the programme was cancelled on Sunday.

Yeoh on March 14 while concluding the Budget 2023 debate for her ministry clarified Muslims were not involved in the 'Jom Ziarah Gereja' programme.
