KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) have voiced their intention of fielding candidates in all six states due for state elections.

Its president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai said Gerakan has held negotiations with colleagues in Perikatan Nasional (PN) about seat allocations.

"We have sent not more than 70 names to the PN Supreme Council for their consideration," he said in a press conference at the 51st Gerakan National Representative Conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

In addition, he also commented on a recent statement by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook saying how Gerakan should dissolve as the party could not gain any mandate from the people.

Lau said Gerakan will remain relevant despite not having any seats currently.

He said Loke just didn't understand why Gerakan continued to remain relevant despite losing several elections.

"This is because Gerakan is not like DAP who received mandate by deceiving people with empty promises.

"Before the elections, they said they want to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU) 1971 and local government elections. Where are those promises? These are lies told to get the people's mandate but they only kept quiet after getting it," he explained.

Lau added that Gerakan will continue to remain relevant because the party held on to principles and will fulfill their promises if they were given mandate in the next elections.
