Wee Ka Siong criticises Teng Chang Khim over use of public funds for China trip allegation

SHAH ALAM - Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong has criticised Bandar Baru Klang assemblyman Datuk Teng Chang Khim over the use of funds for a trip to China.

Wee said the Selangor Investment, Industry, Trade, and Small-Medium Industries exco should not throw baseless accusations towards him over the issue.

The MCA president stressed that Teng should have sought for clarification over the matter with other DAP members or ask the Prime Minister’s Department to explain the matter.

"As a backbencher MP and not a Cabinet minister, I carry the responsibility to play a good role when the Prime Minister leads a Malaysian delegation on an official visit to China.

"It is part of my duty to contribute towards my country and encourage a two-way cooperation between Malaysia and China,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

On Friday, Teng in a Facebook post claimed that Wee had used public funds for his trip to China.

Wee said he had joined several programmes to support the Prime Minister.

"I believe that strengthening bilateral relations with China requires practical measures and not just talk.

"If Teng was so concerned about travel expenses he should have sought confirmation from his DAP colleagues or ask the Prime Minister’s Department to clarify the matter.

"He should not blindly and baselessly condemn MCA leaders,” Wee said.
