Roy says the suspect was arrested five hours after the video clip went viral on social media

BATU GAJAH - The driver who had scattered nails at traffic lights of Jalan Ipoh-Lumut near Pusing has been arrested today.

Batu Gajah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the 45-year-old was arrested in Changkat Larang, Lahat at around 3am after five hours after the clip went viral on social media.

"The suspect is remanded for four days until next Thursday to assist in the investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code for treachery," he told Sinar.

The 24-second video on Facebook showed the driver scattering objects believed to be nails on the road.

Social media users had condemned the act as being irresponsible and called for strict punishment.
