"Alhamdulillah, today we have the opportunity to cooperate with Karangkraf to serve many in this iftar ceremony.

It provides a bigger benefit for all parties and also opens opportunities for asnaf (zakat recipients) businesses in gaining revenue.

"Insya-Allah this cooperation will not end here, we will always provide support for activities that benefit many," he told Sinar on Wednesday.

Sabirin added that maybe Karangkraf could add more locations for iftar in the future.

"I see this programme as very beneficial and if you add more locations more can benefit from it. Additional booths could also add to its liveliness.

"It can't be denied that it is increasing. We have researched it and found an increase for the number of zakat payments.

"However, the performance can't be stated as high as Selangor only had 40 per cent payments from those who were eligible to pay zakat.

Therefore, we opened a zakat counter today for those who want to implement one of the pillars of Islam," he said.
