JAKARTA - An army commando died during a skydiving rehearsal in East Jakarta on Wednesday ahead of Indonesian Air Force’s 77th anniversary on April 9.

First sergeant Agung Dwano Karisma was one of Quick Reaction Forces Command or Kopasgat’s members, taking part in the exercise at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport.

TNI AU said Agung was rushed to the Dr. Esnawan Air Force hospital after the skydiving ‘boogie’ accident.

An inquiry board was set up to determine the cause of the mishap, it said in a statement.

It said in a statement that an investigation commission had been formed to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Agung’s body was flown out of Jakarta and brought to the Husein Sastranegara International Airport in West Java yesterday and then taken to his village.

Agung was buried at Soreang, Bandung cemetery today with full military honours. -Bernama
