TANJONG KARANG - Former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar predicts the people's support for Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to decline in the state elections this year.

Noh said the people no longer stood with the coalition’s principles, which previously used the motto; ‘No Anwar, No DAP’, now has formed the unity government with Pakatan Harapan (PH) after the 15th general election (GE15).

"The people now feel cheated as BN has acted against its words. I’m not saying this, but the Malay youth expressed this as a reason for rejecting BN and eventually supporting Perikatan Nasional (PN)," he said.

He said this after presenting donations at the Tanjong Karang Aidilfitri celebration for the orpahans at the Taman Seri Setia Open Hall here on Sunday.

Noh said, taking Selangor as an example, he believed Umno was no longer the strongest in Malay majority areas.

He said based on GE15 results, all party strongholds were defeated, including Tanjong Karang parliament.

"The people see Umno no longer as the umbrella protecting the Malay struggles and now have chosen to stand under another umbrella (other party)," he said.
