60 home buyers disappointed over abandoned housing project

IPOH - A total of 60 purchasers of Aman Residensi, Bandar Meru Raya houses are still waiting for their houses to be completed six years later.

Nor Shidah Zainal Abidin, 63, one of the buyers, said the house, which was bought in 2018 as a retirement plan, is yet to be fulfilled even after retiring four years ago.

She said it is really disappointing as her dream to celebrate Eid in her new home was not achieved.

"I am angry as I have paid RM70,000 as a deposit, and I would also be settling the installment payment with the bank in two years time.

"I hope the right authorities will step in and help us," she told reporters during the press conference at the D’Aman Residensi Multipurpose Hall here on Sunday.

The action committee representative on this issue, Mohd Zulfadli Abd Khir said he, along with over 40 other buyers, have appointed lawyers to take legal action against the developer.

He said the lawyers had already sent demand letters twice to the developer, on Feb 23, 2023, and May 3, 2023, but no responses were received.

"Based on the Local Government Development Ministry and the survey done by the Private Housing Monitoring Division on Jan 12, no construction activities were done at the project site.

"Each month we have made monthly insurance payments to the financial institutions for the houses we have purchased," he said.

In a briefing session by lawyer Muhd Daniel Baharudin of the Messrs Yusfarizal Aziz and Zaid, a total of 60 individuals attended the briefing on the explanation of the legal actions that will be taken against the developer.
