Six stations on Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT line back in operation tomorrow

SHAH ALAM - Six Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line will be back in operation from 6am tomorrow (Friday).

In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said this was following the completion of repair works (first phase) of the structural and runway damage near the Bandaraya LRT station.

The six stations involved were Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul and Sentul Timur.

It said with the reopening of the stations, the free LRT 11, LRT 13 and LRT 14 express bus services to previously facilitate the journey of the affected commuters will be terminated.

However, it said comprehensive repair works (second phase) of the runway structure was expected to be completed in mid-October, this year.

"The operation of the six stations at the Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT line will be back as usual.

"To facilitate commuters' travel, Rapid Rail will reactivate the free intermediate bus service (LRT 10) that will connect the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya LRT stations due to the disruption of services between the two stations.

"The intermediate bus service will operate using 10 buses every 10 minutes," it said in the statement, today.

Meanwhile, it said commuters who chose to use the alternative rail to Hang Tuah, could take the Titiwangsa Monorail line while those who were heading to Chan Sow Lin could take the Putrajaya Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line through the Titiwangsa station.

It also encouraged commuters to use the PULSE application to plan their travel and follow Rapid KL's social media platforms for the latest information.

"Rail operation personnel and Prasarana auxiliary police will be stationed at the stations involved to assist and control the movement of passengers," it said.

On April 2, the operations of the six LRT stations on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line were suspended as the trains used for the services between Bandaraya and Sentul Timur stations no longer met the operational criteria and had to be taken out of service for safety reasons.

This was following the structural and runway damage near the Bandaraya LRT station, which resulted in trains not being able to return to the Ampang LRT Depot to undergo maintenance works since Jan 27.
