KOTA KINABALU - Parti Warisan (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said he will hold an official meeting with Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin soon.

Shafie previously said the coalition at the central level had been established through the unity government but at the state level, efforts were still needed to make Umno and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) unite with Warisan.

"We need to come up with an approach to unite not only the people in Sabah but the whole country. This is because we can see that the political framework is not a single step that serve to unite the people, we also need to unite at the grassroots level.

"In several other approaches, we have previously invited Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and even other parties if they want to cooperate.

"We are already united at the central level, but how do we unite with Umno together with Warisan and KDM at the state level?" he said at the Tanjung Aru assemblyman's Aidilfitri open house, in Tanjung Aru, last night.

He said this when asked if there was cooperation between Warisan and Umno as leaders of both parties had attended the open house organised by the respective parties.

Previously, Putatan Umno division chief Jeffry Nor Mohamed delivered a speech during the same event and several Warisan leaders were seen attending Sabah Umno open house last week.

Meanwhile, when asked to share about his recent meeting with the unity government leaders, Shafie said there were a number of things discussed during the meeting, including the need for participation from all parties and not just a certain party acting dominant.

"I speak my mind about how unity is. We have to learn from what happened in Umno Barisan Nasional (BN). We don't want only Umno and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to be dominant, how about these other parties that are on the side watching but never experienced it.

"Don't let the same thing happen in BN for 60 years where Umno remains as a dominant party while MCA, MIC and Gerakan died. We don't want that to happen.

"We need to strengthen all component parties, not just Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Umno while other parties only watch. That's not the right way. There should be sincerity and honesty," he said.
