SHAH ALAM - Amanah vice president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof told Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang not to use religion to lie.

The former religious affairs minister claimed the 'Minda President' column, which Hadi wrote, often used religion in the wrong context for the benefit of Pas.

"Hadi is trying to state that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and all Malay leaders (besides himself) are lying.

"These are very strong accusations. Not to mention postings of hadiths that are out of context and place.

"The formation of the Unity government was not motivated by lies as claimed by Hadi, but it was for the greater good of the people.

"The Unity government is a reflection of the people's desire for political stability after no party achieved a simple majority to form the government," he said in a statement on Friday.

Hadi on Thursday labelled Malays, including leaders cooperating with PH, as those who easily forget. This is because they have violated their principles by conspiring to form a government.

He said Muslims could not support liars, even respectable non-Muslims couldn't do so.

Mujahid said that the act of using a Hadith on the heinous act of lying, which is prohibited by Sharia, to justify accusations against the Unity government is clearly an act that symbolises his weakness in thinking and short-sightedness.

"Is Hadi trying to deny that the great Maslahah (public interest) is far more important than his narrow agenda? Shouldn't we understand the principle of Sharia as one of our sources? "The big Maslahah now that must be resolved immediately after the general election (GE) is that there is no bloc with a majority to form a government. "The formation of a government is the main problem. Yang di-Pertuan Agong has ordered and consented to the establishment of the Unity government for the sake of the people and the country.

"The leadership post-GE is needed to continue the increasingly critical economic recovery master plan," he said.

He said party leaders from all backgrounds and ideologies have agreed to see this main Maslahah as an important factor for them to leave behind all of their individual party importance and prioritise the country and its people.

"This included sensitive issues that became the target of political attacks pre-GE15. "That is how narrow-minded the Pas president's thoughts are in his writings; he fails to see the world bigger than himself and his group. "It's even more unfortunate that he brought up the noble words of Prophet Muhammad SAW to justify his baseless accusations," he claimed.
