SHAH ALAM - Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi has alleged that the renewed collaboration between former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is driven by financial motives.

According to Puad, Dr Mahathir's substantial wealth and resources, despite not being affiliated with any political party, make it unsurprising that Muhyiddin is willing to work with him again.

"It's not strange that Muhyiddin is ready to work with Dr Mahathir again even though he (Dr Mahathir) does not belong to any party.

"Muhyiddin is friends with Dr Mahathir again because of money. Dr Mahathir has a lot of money and resources.

"We will see how Perikatan Nasional (PN) give donations during the state election later," he said on Facebook today.

On Friday, the PN chairman expressed his willingness to work with Dr Mahathir to defend religion, race and the country.

Muhyiddin said he welcomed Dr Mahathir's statement on his willingness to cooperate with him for the sake of the Malays and Muslims.

Dr Mahathir had previously confirmed his readiness to work with Muhyiddin if their objectives aligned.

Puad further questioned how PN could secure victory in the upcoming state election without substantial financial contributions, as Bersatu's bank accounts are presently frozen.

"In the 15th General Election (GE15), PN indulged in lavish spending, and PAS also utilised their financial resources.

"However, Bersatu's bank accounts are now frozen. Can PN win without significant donations? That's why Muhyiddin had to 'kneel' to Dr Mahathir," Puad claimed.
