SHAH ALAM - MCA vice president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker has asked DAP to apologise for calling them "Umno's lapdogs" and traitors for accepting customs and uniforms based on Malay traditions.

This comes after DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, 82, is said to be given the 'Tan Sri' title, where he is expected to be attired in a ‘Baju Melayu’ during tomorrow's investiture ceremony tomorrow.

"Congratulations to Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang. I am proud that Tan Sri Lim is finally wearing a songkok as part of palace protocol and ceremonial attire.

"I still remember Triang assemblyman Leong Ngah Ngah (now retired) refusing to wear the songkok and ceremonial attire, saying it was not allowed by DAP when Lim was the party's secretary-general," Ti claimed.

He said previously certain factions in DAP had also ridiculed MCA for accepting awards.

"DAP has already apologised to Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Umno and others.

"Why hasn't DAP apologised to MCA and MIC, who have been their primary targets of attacks for cooperating with Umno to find a common ground in our pluralistic society," he asked in a statement.

Ti said the spirit of apologising is the best way towards unity and strengthening the BN and PH Unity Government as the government faces state elections.

He ended his statement with "Over to you, Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and DAP".

It was reported earlier today that Lim had attended a rehearsal ceremony for the awarding of the honour held tomorrow after his photo wearing a songkok and black suit was shared on Facebook by former Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi Chuan Aun.
