KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) hopes to see new investment growth in the high technology and digitalisation of business processes, mechanisation and automation of production and services through the Madani economic narrative.

President Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman said Malaysia must attract and make the country a hub for these services at least in the Asean region for a start.

"Only with these businesses, we could offer more opportunities for our younger generation who are more IT savvy and have advanced knowledge in prevailing technology while creating better career opportunities and address both unemployment and underemployment issues,” he said in a statement today.

He said the federation is also hopeful and believed that there would be clear plans to support the existing businesses as they needed more favourable financial packages to assist with their expansion plans.

"Businesses also need more support to promote and assist in exporting our goods and services to the region and abroad,” he said.

He also said that another focus should be to create a task force on bringing in high-end engineering services like maintenance and overhaul services into Malaysia.

"We should create a special zone with initiatives to hub them here and this will support the growth of technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) as it must be established as an alternate pathway for graduates preferring skills career than academic.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said a Madani economic narrative will be launched in August as a guide for a clearer direction of the country’s economy. - BERNAMA
