BANGI - Selecting Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to lead Perikatan Nasional's (PN) campaign to seize Selangor from Pakatan Harapan (PH) was a timely decision given that he is very close to the people of the state.

Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said, as a former Selangor Menteri Besar, one of Bersatu's supreme council members and PN's information chief, no one can question Azmin's credibility and leadership.

Thus, Wan Saiful is confident that the combination of Azmin's leadership and many other prominent figures can help PN defeat PH's dominance in Selangor.

"To say 100 per cent PN will win in Selangor is difficult, but the chance of us seizing the state government is very high because the green wave or the people's awakening is still there.

"The people of Selangor who are intelligent and educated can also judge for themselves the performance of the coalition government in Putrajaya now," he told Sinar Premium after the launch of the New Selangor tour in Bangi on Saturday night.

In another update, Wan Saiful said it was up to PN leaders to decide whether or not he will be contesting in the state election.

The former Bersatu information chief said that until now, he personally has no plans to run for any seat in the state legislative assembly.

However, Wan Saiful said that the final decision of him contesting would be left entirely to the party's leaders.

"What is important is that we need to ensure that PN win all three state assemblies under Bangi Parliament, namely Sungai Ramal, Kajang and Balakong state assemblies in the next state election," he said.

Sinar on June 11 reported that Wan Saiful was one of the names mentioned to potentially be competing on a PN ticket in the Selangor state election.

According to sources, Wan Saiful will compete to capture the Sungai Ramal state seat under Bangi parliament currently held by Amanah's Mazwan Johar.

In the meantime, Wan Saiful confirmed that the seat distribution between PN component parties in Selangor is now almost complete and is just waiting for the right time to be announced.
