Despite the dissolution, the state government's administrative office operated as usual under the caretaker state government, it said.

The Darulnaim complex showed that its officers and staff were at work as normal, and business ran as usual.

It was reported that sources said several state executive councillors were not in their offices as they were attending community programmes in their respective constituencies.

"It is normal for Pas assemblymen to attend programmes in their constituencies every Thursday.

"It has been their normal activity for many years. This is one of their ways to remain close to voters and listen to their problems," said the sources.

On Wednesday, the Election Commission (EC) was informed of the dissolution of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly to make way for the state election within 60 days.

Kelantan Assembly Speaker Datuk Abdullah Ya'kub said the assembly had sent a notification letter last week.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob previously announced that the Kelantan Assembly, which has 45 seats, would be dissolved after obtaining the consent of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V.

PAS holds 37 seats in the assembly, followed by Barisan Nasional (seven) and Bersatu (one).
