SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, has called for the removal of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi from his position due to his court charges.

This statement comes in response to Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli's suggestion that the Opposition should focus on improving the government rather than organising motorcycle convoys.

Ahmad Fadhli, also the Pasir Mas MP, explained that the motorcycle convoy manifested the youth's frustration with the current government.

"If they wanted a suggestion, I will provide two. The first was to create a positive perception towards foreign investors that the government is serious and would not tolerate corruption and criminal breach of trust.

"The most important measure was to remove the deputy prime minister from his post as he was an individual facing court charges. It’s not just one singular case but 47.

"Choose any clean MP, and if it must be from Umno or BN there are many who were not facing court charges,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Recently, local media reported Rafizi stating that the Opposition should fulfill a constructive role by either supporting government policies or explaining their achievements during their 33-month tenure in power.

Ahmad Fadhli highlighted that PN's focus in election campaigns should be on selecting the most capable candidate to govern the country, rather than promoting ethnic divisions or attempting to gather the largest motorcycle convoy.

He further proposed a second suggestion, which involved appointing a new Finance Minister who could effectively carry out their responsibilities.

"This is what Pakatan Harapan fought for previously – to separate the roles of the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to ensure good governance. However, I doubt that both of my suggestions will be accepted. The public should simply reject the government in the upcoming state polls," he concluded.
