Pas is no ‘big brother’ in PN, seat allocations done transparently and fairly

SHAH ALAM - There is no emerging question of Pas wanting to be the big brother or monopolise Perikatan Nasional (PN) even though the party is allocated the most seats, a total of126 out of 245 seats in the upcoming state election.

Pas information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said that the seat allocation process between Pas, Bersatu and Gerakan was concluded transparently and fairly by PN top leaders considering various aspects including the strength of each party in the chair.

"Alhamdulillah, the process of allocating seats took place peacefully and is now fully completed and we are just waiting for the right time to announce the list of candidates.

"In fact, we (Pas) are now at the final stage of finalising the list of candidates who will contest in the upcoming state election, taking into account various factors before deciding," he told Sinar Premium.

Previously, the media reported that PN had finalised their seat negotiations and confirmed that it would compete in all 245 state assembly seats in the six state elections including 83 state seats to be contested by Bersatu, Pas (126 seats), Gerakan (36 seats).

Meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia political analyst Dr Mazlan Ali said that Pas should definitely get more seats because they were a strong party and had more than a million grassroots throughout Malaysia especially in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Following that, Mazlan said that it was nothing out of the ordinary if Pas wins more seats than Bersatu and Gerakan in the upcoming polls.

He said this showed that Pas was an influential party and PN's victory in the Malay majority seats in the 15th General Election was achieved by Pas machinery's hard work.

"Therefore, nobody can deny the reality that Pas is the strongest party in PN.

"It is not strange or odd if Pas wins many seats in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah because their chances of winning in those states are high.

"Pas also has a bright chance to win numerous state seats in Selangor and Seberang Prai, Penang in the state election ahead," he added.
