ALOR SETAR - Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, has extended an invitation to PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, to run for a seat in the state election in Kedah.

Sanusi cited that Saifuddin, a former Kulim Bandar Baharu MP, might be interested in trying his luck at the state level after losing in the recent 15th General Election (PRU15) parliamentary elections.

Sanusi believes that Saifuddin's aspirations to become the Kedah Menteri Besar are not unfounded, given his role as the Joint Chairman of the Kedah State Development Action Council, which positions him closer to the people of Kedah compared to other PKR leaders.

"I invite Saifuddin to contest a seat in the Kedah State Assembly. Who knows, if he wins, he could become the Kedah Menteri Besar. Despite Saifuddin's previous losses, let him give it a try at the state level.

"Perhaps, when he becomes the Menteri Besar, he will experience the challenges faced by the state government within the federal system, particularly when state politics and the Federation are not aligned," he said when contacted on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Home Minister, did not rule out the possibility of the unity government coalition defeating Muhammad Sanusi and toppling the PN government in the upcoming state polls.

This follows the characterisation of Muhammad Sanusi as someone who does not adhere to the principles of tarbiyah Pas based on tarbiyah quraniyah.

Muhammad Sanusi remains undeterred by any threats or attempts to seize power in Kedah. Instead, he called on the unity government's election machinery to compete fairly against Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the election.

During a press conference last Wednesday after chairing an Exco meeting at Wisma Darul Aman, Muhammad Sanusi urged all political parties to practice democracy throughout the PRN campaign period fully.

He stressed the importance of each party competing with integrity, utilising their own strengths and capacities to win the hearts of voters, without misusing government resources.
