KUALA LUMPUR - A detailed investigation must be carried out on the video depicting Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing allegedly abusing his power at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.

Tiong, in a four-minute and 29-second video posted on his Facebook page last Friday, explained that the mastermind behind the viral video will be investigated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

He also claimed that the spread of the video was a deliberate act to cover up corruption that took place at the arrival hall.

"Why are immigration personnel so afraid of people taking and spreading their pictures? I can confirm 100 per cent that the Immigration officers are responsible for the video going viral," he said.

He said that the culprit who recorded and spread the video should be investigated immediately for spreading false news.

"I want a complete investigation. Check the viral picture from whose phone, and I'm asking the MCMC to do it and investigate this officer.

"Why did he do it? Why did he make up this inaccurate news? Why make a slanderous accusation? Did he want to save some officers?" he asked.

Commenting further on the incident, a Chinese woman who was detained admitted that there was a high-ranking official who asked for payment to be released.

"There are officials who ask for RM3,000 and pay RM12,000 for a visa. This is not a law of the Unity government.

"I was also informed that if they 'pay this toll', they can go through a special lane, and this is a problem," he explained.

He also asked Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil to look into the matter.

"I also want all parties to join hands to preserve the country's image while pushing the nation forward," he said.
