KLIA incident to be discussed in Cabinet meeting, PM confirms after surprise visit

SHAH ALAM - An in-depth investigation will be conducted into the incident involving Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Thursday, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar noted that he is currently reviewing the necessary steps to address the issue, while also acknowledging the positive feedback received thus far from the immigration department.

"We need to identify specific groups that may be resistant to change and face various allegations.

"Initial discussions on this matter will take place during the Cabinet meeting this Wednesday," he told reporters at KLIA on Sunday.

During his visit, Anwar noted that the majority of immigration officers were performing their duties effectively.

"However, there may be certain issues that require investigation and rectification.

"If mistakes were made, appropriate action will be taken," he added.

Earlier, Anwar made an unexpected visit to the airport to personally oversee the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who had returned from Saudi Arabia after completing their hajj pilgrimage.
