KUALA NERUS - Pas deputy chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said there are older candidates in the state who have expressed not contesting in the state polls to make way for new faces.

However, he did not reveal other details of the candidates' backgrounds and said they were still being considered by the party's top leadership.

"There are several places that I can't mention; some candidates have expressed that they will not be contesting.

"I think it's something unique, as some places had many fighting to contest for seats to become candidates. We are grateful Terengganu has a harmonious culture," he told reporters after officiating the Bukit Berapit water treatment plant (LRA) here on Tuesday.

Adding further, Samsuri said Perikatan Nasional (PN) would highlight new faces and old faces as candidates in the elections.

However, he said the list was not finalised and would be decided soon.

"I myself don't know (whether I would be nominated), even though I'm the deputy chief.

"What's important is entering the elections not simply to win, but to win big and govern with full confidence," he said.

Samsuri commented on the performance of the Terengganu state government meeting (MMKN) members and said he was satisfied with their performance shown throughout governing Terengganu.

"Our MMKN members learn quickly to adapt to the portfolio they hold, and they know how to work as a team," the Terengganu Menteri Besar said.

The Terengganu State Assembly previously announced their official dissolution for the 14th term on June 28 to make way for the election.
