KOTA BHARU - A couple were arrested on Monday after a pistol was discovered at the rear of a home in Tok Ku, Sering, here.

The 27-year-old male suspect and the 33-year-old Thai woman were detained during a raid at 11.10a.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said they were arrested while in a car by the roadside.

A search operation resulted in the discovery of 5,770 methamphetamine pills, commonly known as "pil Kuda," with an estimated value of RM63,470.

"We found an American made 38 S&W Special CTG Revolver and a black holster.

"The weapon was buried at the back of the home near the concrete wall,” he said in a press conference at the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters, today.

Zaki said he did not reject the possibility the weapon was for the purpose of self-protection within the drug trafficking syndicate.

"The weapon was reportedly obtained from the neighbouring country,” he said.

Zaki said the man had a criminal record with seven previous drug-related offences.

He was arrested for drug possession and abuse, and his urine test came back positive for drugs while his wife's urine tested negative.

"The man is under seven day remand till Monday while the wife's remand is until Sunday," he said.
