SHAH ALAM - Umno is ready to pull back support for the Unity government if any parties dare challenge the position of Islam as the official religion, the Malay Rulers, and the special position of the Malays in the country.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam said it is not an impossible scenario to happen in the Unity government as the Malay party has previously withdrew support for former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said as long as Barisan Nasional (BN) is still in the Unity government, these provisions will be preserved.

"Tun Dr Mahathir, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, and Muhyiddin can't control DAP, but trust in BN, and we can control Gerakan from being an extreme party once upon a time.

"So I urge our friends who are afraid of DAP controlling us that, as of now, alhamdulillah, as long as there is BN in the government, we will make sure this won't happen. Further, they have also assured that they will abide by the Constitution," he added.

He said this during the Wacana Sinar programme titled 'Adakah Bom Jangka Kedua' (Will the bomb go off for the second time), which was aired live on all Sinar Harian platforms on Tuesday.

Other panellists on the programme are Perak PKR vice president Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad, Muafakat Nasional Superme Council Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, and Bersatu's Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard.

He also revealed that Umno's failure in the last 15th general election (GE15) was due to sabotage by 'internal people'.

"They are Annuar Mua, Tun Faizal, and also former prime minister (Datuk Seri) Ismail Sabri, who conspired to delay the election.

"We have already won in Johor and Melaka. The opposition is also in a state of disarray. I'm confident that BN will win and form a government on its own," he added.
