MCA-MIC not contesting: PH leaving it to BN - Nik Nazmi

KUALA LUMPUR - Pakatan Harapan (PH) will leave it to Barisan Nasional (BN) to deal with the decision by MCA and MIC not to contest in the state elections and will only help the coalition come August 12.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice President Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the decision of the two BN component parties may have been discussed beforehand.

"They (MIC and MCA) are part of BN's component parties and there may have been discussions before.

"I leave that to BN," he said during a press conference for the appointment of the Climate Change Advisory Panel at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), on Thursday.

On Wednesday, MCA and MIC decided not to participate in the state elections that will take place in August.

Meanwhile, MIC Secretary General RT Rajasekaran confirmed the party's decision not to contest in the state polls after a meeting on June 30.

In the meantime, Nik Nazmi said, so far the use of party logos is not a problem even though there are political coalitions that want to use their respective logos.

"The cooperation between PH and BN is good.

"I have just returned from Kelantan and thank God everywhere I go there are friends from BN who come down to work with PH," he said.
