Afdlin Shauki wants to optimise experience in entertainment industry

KUALA LUMPUR - Versatile artiste Datuk Afdlin Shauki, who was recently appointed a member of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory Board, is committed to optimising his more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry and as a businessman in making the federal capital an art centre.

The chairman of YWP Media Sdn Bhd said that one of his roles is to advise and give insight into the entertainment industry, such as managing events and concerts, as well as those involving arts and cultural heritage.

"Honestly, I am surprised by this appointment, but I am grateful as it is a recognition for artistes by the unity government.

"I hope with the experience I have, I can help provide detailed information about the art industry in addition to facilitating the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in understanding the ins and outs of the entertainment world," he said when contacted, today.

Afdlin Shauki, whose full name is Afdlin Shauki Aksan, is the first artiste and one of the 11 new members appointed in the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory Board. His appointment is for two years and took effect last May 15.

The Kuala Lumpur City Advisory Board was established to advise the mayor on matters pertaining to the city’s administration in accordance with the Federal Capital Act 1960.

The letters of appointment to the new members of the advisory committee were presented by Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh last Friday (July 7). -Bernama
