3R: Police record Guan Eng, Abdul Hadi's statements - IGP

KUALA LUMPUR - The police have recorded statements from DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for their alleged remarks on the 3R issue (religion, race, and royal institutions).

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the investigation papers will be sent to the Attorney General's office by Monday at the latest.

"Guan Eng's statement was recorded in Penang on Friday, while Abdul Hadi's was recorded on Thursday at his office in Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur," he said.

Investigators have opened 61 investigation papers related to the 3R issue since March 27, involving politicians, former politicians, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Abdul Hadi was investigated for a statement that DAP wanted to maintain the understanding of Islam in the Federal Constitution based on the colonialist interpretation that upholds the liberalism and freedom practiced by Western countries.

Guan Eng is being investigated for his claim that a green wave will demolish temples and deny religious rights in Penang.

The police said that they will take action against anyone who is found to have violated the law.
