ULU KELANG - Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, has raised a question regarding the disproportionate media focus on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Sanusi Md Nor, despite numerous nationwide events involving PN top leadership.

Azmin, who was speaking to Sinar Daily after the final of the Piala Azmin Ali 2023 football match at BB Sports Park in Taman Melawati yesterday, said that the Opposition coalition party had been holding numerous programmes in six states -- Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan -- in preparation for the upcoming state election to be held on Aug 12.

"Due to this, the party's highest leadership, whether it is the Menteri Besar or the party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, has been everywhere in the six states," he said.

Azmin described Sanusi as a senior figure in PN and said that he played a crucial role in the rakyat's well-being.

"Not only Sanusi, but the president also has a busy schedule, as does Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who has been given the task of focusing on Negeri Sembilan," he said.

"Likewise, with the Pas president (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang) and the Gerakan president (Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai), they are all busy in the field to enlighten the rakyat," the former Selangor Menteri Besar added.

Earlier, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that the political constancy and criticism that Sanusi has received show that he is a great leader.

Hamzah elaborated that Sanusi has brought many achievements and proud developments to the state, to the point that it is difficult for the opposing party to resist.

"They feel that Kedah is a state where they have to show their strength; they don't want to accept a sad result for their supporters," he said.

"To me, Sanusi is a wise and good person; however, in certain talks, they attack him enough because they don't want to see Sanusi's success, which is so encouraging," Hamzah said.
