MARANG - Pas continues to figure out the background of 33 candidates who will be fielded by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the Terengganu state election and the Kuala Terengganu by-election on Aug 12.
Pas vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said all parties should wait for the official announcement that will be made at the Tok Guru Hall at the Rusila Mosque, tonight.
The caretaker Terengganu Menteri Besar did not even give a clue whether he would remain as a candidate to contest in the Ru Rendang State Legislative Assembly seat or the Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary seat.
"There is no need to wait for long, you will know who the candidates are tonight.
"To me, it is not my concern whether or not to let go (of the seat). It is the wish of the party that entrusted me with the seat.
"I am going to complete whatever task assigned to me," he said at a press conference after the groundbreaking ceremony for a mixed housing project in Kampung Alur Limbat, here, today.
He said he would prioritised what the party wanted and will accept any decision made by the party.
"Whatever I want would be on the 10th (in the priority list).
"The first would be the fight and party's aspirations for the needs of the community, the state and the nation," he said.
Samsuri won the Ru Rendang state seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) defeating Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang with a majority of 6,028 votes.
He received 13,851 votes in the three-way race, defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Nik Dir Nik Wan Ku (7,823 votes) and PKR candidate Zarawi Sulong (729 votes).
