Four candidates file nomination papers for Perai state seat

SEBERANG PRAI - The stage is set for intense competition in the Perai state seat as four candidates have filed their nomination papers for the Penang state election.

Returning Officer Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid, stepped out of the Dewan Al-Azim, Kolej Vokasional Seberang Prai nomination center to announce the list of candidates.

The contenders include Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo representing Pakatan Harapan (PH), Sivasuntaram Rajalinggam from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Vikneswary Harikrishnan from The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), and David Marshel, who made the decision to quit DAP and contest as an independent candidate.

Supporters from various parties gathered at the Dewan Al-Azim as early as 7.30am, with police officers closely monitoring crowd control to ensure a peaceful event.

With hundreds of PN, PH, Muda, and independent candidate supporters present, the nomination center was filled with cheers, songs, and dances, creating an energetic atmosphere and boosting the spirits of the candidates.

Apart from the Perai state seat, two other legislative assembly seats will also be contested at this nomination center, namely Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun.

Candidates from all political parties were allotted one hour to submit their nomination forms, marking the official start of their election campaigns.

In addition to Penang, the Election Commission (EC) has set Aug 12 as the polling day for several other states, including Selangor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
