PORT DICKSON - The people of Kelantan need to give the unity government coalition a chance to rule the state and see for themselves the changes that will be implemented.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that it was time for the 'Cik Siti Wan Kembang' state administration to be aligned with the central government so that more development can come to fruition.

"I think the time has come for us to put an end to the 33 years (Pas) administration. This is important because we have been giving chances for too long, but they have not done anything big for the betterment of the Kelantan people.

"So I want to remind my friends in Kelantan whether they are in politics or the government service; I hope that they will practise functional politics so that the central and state governments will be aligned that Kelantan shall then change," he said after the 'Sembang Santai' programme with Bagan Pinang and Linggi Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates, yesterday.

The Deputy Finance Minister also suggested that the unity government take over the state administration for one term so that the people may have a chance to evaluate the effectiveness of a good governance.

He revealed that it was because the issues of water, poverty, unemployment and job opportunities for the people of Kelantan needed to be resolved instead of letting it get worse endlessly.

"Give the unity government a chance, we'll see what happens. If there's no change in Kelantan, hand it back over to Pas (to rule) forever.

"Just try once, give it a chance. Take a shot. After that, if it doesn't work, if it doesn't solve all the problems, leave it (to Pas) forever," he said.
