SHAH ALAM – Political analyst Mohammad Tawfik Yaakub said that people are no longer satisfied with manifestos that are full of promises but are not fulfilled.

He said that people want leaders who are honest and trustworthy, and who can understand and address their concerns.

Tawfik said that manifestos are often seen as a way for political parties to attract votes, but that they are often not implemented once the parties are elected.

He said that this erodes the trust of the people in the government.

"The people want leaders who are able to see the real problems that they are facing, such as the cost of living, jobs, and security.

"They want leaders who will work to solve these problems, not just make promises," he said in the Sinar programme titled Manifesto: Sweet promises to attract voters with host Haizir Othman held at Karangkraf Complex today.

Tawfik said that the political landscape in Malaysia is changing, and that people are becoming more aware of the importance of good governance. He said that this is being driven by the rise of social media, which allows people to access information and share their views more easily.

"If political parties want to win the trust of the people, they need to show that they are serious about addressing the real problems that the people are facing.

"They need to be honest and trustworthy, and they need to show that they are capable of governing effectively," he added.
