Dr M asks Muslims to reject excessive freedom

SHAH ALAM – Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hopes that the Muslim community rejects excessive freedom that can lead to moral decay.

According to him, although the concept of freedom is well received by society, in the West it has become impoverished to the extent that it gives the right to practice forbidden things driven by lust.

"Everything that is determined by the culture of the nation, for example, can be rejected if it restricts a person's freedom.

"Now the values and way of life of a nation can be set aside if it hinders someone's will," he said in his first post on Facebook after being released from the National Heart Institute (IJN), Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

The former Langkawi Member of Parliament asserted, what is worrying is that Malaysia has been contaminated with signs of excessive freedom.

"Young people (in this country) have demonstrated by claiming that no one can ban lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT). It is said that only God can ban.

"Where does this opinion come from. When did God justify LGBT? Such is the incitement from the West. The problem of moral decay cannot be taken lightly.

"Don't think it only happened in the West. Signs show it has reached here (Malaysia)," he said.
