PADANG TERAP - Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has clarified that he is unaware of any claim indicating that the caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhamad Sanusi Md Nor, was arrested on Saturday afternoon.

Saifuddin said he was only aware of the matter after reading a statement by the police denying the report and requesting the local media to be more careful in reporting the news.

"That's serious, and I didn't even have any information about it until I read their statement. The police also asked the portal to apologise and retract (the reports).

"It's not good that we bring in uncertain and unverified elements like this (while heading towards the state polls)," he said at a press conference at the nearby Naka voting district centre on Sunday.

Safuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general, added that he is also not in the know if Sanusi will be arrested in the near future as it falls under the authority of the police.

"Is there a possibility? I cannot answer as it's under the jurisdiction of the police," he said.
