Home Ministry ready to assist MACC in probe involving Muhyiddin's son-in-law

SHAH ALAM - The Home Ministry will provide necessary cooperation and assistance to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in relation to a corruption case involving the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that his ministry is prepared to assist any agency.

"When the person or subject involved is abroad, the (Home) Ministry is often asked for assistance.

"We will wait and see if MACC wants any assistance from us," he said at a press conference at the Ideal Convention Center (IDCC) Shah Alam on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced that it would seek the cooperation of the Immigration Department to freeze the passports of Muhyiddin's son-in-law, Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, and another individual.

This will enable the MACC to interview them about a corruption case involving a project related to the registration, recruitment, and biometric storage of foreign workers in a ministry.

However, in a statement from his lawyer, Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu, Muhammad Adlan denied evading the authorities and stated that he would return to assist with the investigation.

Earlier on Monday, the MACC said it was tracking two men to aid its investigation, identifying the duo as Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48, and Mansoor Saat, 69.
