Khairy viewed Reezal as the most suitable candidate for the seat and he would inherit Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi or Pak Lah’s legacy since the 70s.

"Reezal is the heir towards Pak Lah’s struggle, so I don’t want it (the struggle) to be severed.

"Despite the 15th General Election (GE15) showing some disturbances I hope the state election would have Reezal continue the struggle,” he said.

The former health minister was among the ‘old members’ in Umno sacked from the party.

It was due to the former Rembau MP’s disciplinary violation in the party according to the Umno Constitution in GE15. - AWANI
